Is it true that a prayer for good for someone who does not pray is not accepted?

If the one who abandons prayer rejects its obligation, then he is a disbeliever by the consensus of Muslims, and it is not permissible to supplicate for his forgiveness and mercy, due to the Almighty's saying: "It is not for the Prophet and those who have believed to ask forgiveness for polytheists, even if they were relatives, after it has become clear to them that they are companions of Hellfire." As for supplicating for worldly benefits for him, it is permissible if he is not an enemy of Islam.

However, if the one who abandons prayer does so out of laziness while acknowledging its obligation, many scholars do not consider him a disbeliever, and it is permissible to supplicate for his forgiveness and mercy. The acceptance of supplication for him depends on the conditions of acceptance being met and the absence of impediments.
