Is divulging a secret of a female relative of mine, after she told me: "I entrust you with this, let no one know about it" and "Do not tell anyone, I will question you about it on the Day of Resurrection," considered a sin? And is this considered part of the trust (amanah) that the heavens and the earth failed to carry? And is it permissible to say "amanah" when divulging the secret, knowing that she intends it as an oath?

You erred in divulging your relative's secret, as it is not permissible for one entrusted with a secret to disclose it. You must repent to Allah, and since your relative has forgiven you, we hope that Allah accepts your repentance and forgives your sin. For religious obligations, including safeguarding secrets, are part of the trust that Allah offered to the heavens, the earth, and the mountains.
