How is an inheritance divided among a son, two daughters, and a wife?
If the heirs are limited to those mentioned, the wife receives one-eighth due to the existence of a lineal descendant, as Allah Almighty says: ﴿But if you have a child, then for them [i.e., the wives] is one eighth of what you leave, after any bequest you [may have] made or debt.﴾ The remainder goes to the son and the two daughters, with the male receiving the share of two females. The inheritance is divided into 32 shares: the wife receives 4 shares, the son 14 shares, and each daughter 7 shares. The questioner is advised to refer inheritance matters to the courts for investigation, as there may be other heirs, bequests, debts, or other rights that take precedence over the rights of the heirs.
