Despair is a dangerous disease from which Allah has warned us. The affliction of a servant with calamities and trials is a divine tradition to test his patience and servitude. It is a great mistake for life to be darkened in our eyes because of a trial, for that is heedlessness of the meaning of affliction, ill-thought of Allah, and a feeling of despair and frustration.

Tips to overcome this ordeal: 1. Relying on Allah and depending on Him, and remembering His saying, peace and blessings be upon him: "Know that what afflicted you was not to miss you, and what missed you was not to afflict you." 2. Beware of pessimism. 3. Having a good opinion of Allah Almighty, for perhaps what you dislike is precisely what is in your best interest. 4. Taking the necessary means while leaving the results to Allah Almighty, and remembering the saying of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him: "The strong believer is better and more beloved to Allah than the weak believer, and in each there is good. Be keen on what benefits you, seek help from Allah, and do not lose heart. If anything befalls you, do not say, 'If only I had done such and such,' but rather say: 'Allah has decreed, and what He willed He has done.' For 'if only' opens the door to the work of Satan."
