Is it permissible to demolish an old, abandoned mosque and sell its contents to benefit from its price in completing the construction of a new mosque?

If the old mosque becomes abandoned and disused, it is permissible to sell it and use its proceeds to complete the construction of the new mosque. It is reported that Umar ibn al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, ordered the relocation of a mosque. This indicates the permissibility of moving a mosque from its place. Therefore, it is even more permissible to sell it to benefit from its proceeds in building a new mosque. This is the preponderant opinion among scholars.
