Is it permissible to perform the prayer for rain (Salat al-Istisqa) in mosques?

It is preferable to perform the prayer for rain (Salat al-Istisqa) in the desert, following the example of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and because it can accommodate people and animals. However, it is permissible to perform it in the mosque. The types of Istisqa are varied, including prayer in the mosque, going out to the desert for prayer, supplication without prayer, the Imam's supplication on the pulpit on Friday, and supplication after prayers and in solitude.
