Is it permissible to pray four rak'ahs of the pre-Dhuhr sunnah prayer all at once in the Shafi'i school of thought?

It is permissible in the Shafi'i madhhab to pray the pre-Dhuhr regular sunnah prayer as four rak'ahs with a single taslim, though it is preferable to perform it with two taslims. The evidence for its preferability is what Al-Darimi, Ibn Hibban, Ibn Khuzaymah, and Abu Dawud narrated, and Al-Albani authenticated, from Ibn Umar, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The prayers of the night and day are two by two."
