What is the ruling on wearing more than one ring on the hands?

Scholars differed concerning the ruling on a man wearing multiple rings. The Maliki school stipulated that a man is not permitted to wear more than one ring, and anything beyond that is forbidden. The Shafi'i school differed, and what should be adopted is the permissibility of wearing multiple rings as long as it does not lead to extravagance. As for the Hanbali school, the more prominent view among them is the permissibility of a man wearing multiple rings if it does not deviate from custom. What is narrated from the Prophet's guidance (peace and blessings be upon him) is that he wore one silver ring, and it is best for a Muslim to limit himself to what has been transmitted in the Sunnah.
