The Noble Verse stipulated that a woman's testimony is half that of a man's, meaning two women are equivalent to one man. This is explained by the possibility of a woman forgetting the testimony, so the other reminds her. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, also pointed to the deficiency in a woman's intellect and religion, clarifying that the deficiency in her intellect is evident in the fact that the testimony of two women equals that of one man, while the deficiency in her religion is represented by her leaving prayer and fasting during menstruation. Modern science attributes this to the fact that when a woman speaks, it engages both her memory and speech centers, which may affect her complete recall of the testimony.
