Semen is pure according to the preponderant opinion, whereas pre-seminal fluid (madhy) is impure and must be washed off, according to the majority of scholars. If a tissue is stained with both semen and pre-seminal fluid, it is impure. If it is placed on a bed, the spot touched by the impurity becomes defiled. It is sufficient to purify this spot by pouring water over it until the color and odor of the impurity are gone.
