What is the ruling on working as an article writer for a company that deals with companies selling prohibited items (such as alcohol, gambling, and tobacco), and is it permissible to pray for the disruption of agreements with these companies to avoid ill-gotten gains?

Your work is permissible if your tasks and articles are free from forbidden things and falsehoods. The sin of the company's forbidden dealings falls upon those who directly engage in them. There are narrations from the Salaf that permit eating from the food of someone whose wealth is mixed with unlawful earnings, as long as your own earnings are lawful, and the burden of sin is upon him. Ibn 'Uthaymeen issued a fatwa allowing an employee to work in a company that deals with usury, as long as he does not directly engage in usury by writing, witnessing, or providing a service.
