What are the sayings of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, regarding zina (unlawful sexual intercourse)?

Many hadiths have been narrated prohibiting adultery, among them: "The adulterer does not commit adultery while he is a believer," and "That you commit adultery with your neighbor's wife" is among the greatest sins after polytheism and killing one's child, and "When a servant commits adultery, faith departs from him," and "When adultery and usury become widespread in a village, they have brought God's punishment upon themselves." The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, also demonstrated the gravity of adultery by refuting a young man's desire for it, asking him if he would like it for his female relatives, then he prayed for him, and the young man repented.
