Has the verse in Surat Al-Ahzab abrogated the verse in Surat An-Nur concerning hijab, given that interpretations of the verse in Surat An-Nur permit uncovering the face, while interpretations of the verse in Surat Al-Ahzab necessitate covering it?

The imposition of the hijab occurred before the revelation of Surat An-Nur, in the third or fourth year of the Hijra. This is indicated by the statement of Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, in the story of the slander (Al-Ifk), when Safwan recognized her: "He used to see me before the hijab." Al-Ayni considered this verse one of the three verses of hijab, and it is evidence for the obligation of niqab, as interpreted by some exegetes, regarding the Almighty's saying: "And let them draw their headcovers over their bosoms" (An-Nur: 31). And His saying: "except what is apparent thereof" refers to outer garments and the like, according to many verifying scholars.
