What should I do, as I swore by Allah that I would memorize the Qur’an after marriage, otherwise Allah would punish me and diminish my husband’s provision, and I am unable to memorize it?
If a woman swore that she would memorize the Qur'an after her marriage, but was unable to do so after marriage, she must exert her utmost effort to memorize it. If she is unable to, then she must offer expiation for breaking an oath (kaffarat yamin). The expiation for breaking an oath is feeding ten poor persons, clothing them, or freeing a slave. If she cannot find any of these, then she must fast for three days. It is advisable to avoid supplicating against oneself, one's children, or one's wealth. Rather, one should ask Allah for well-being and assistance in memorizing the Qur'an.
