Is abortion permissible due to a genetic defect in the wife that affects pregnancy, the high cost of treatment and examinations, having previously given birth to a disabled child for the same reason, the possibility of the current fetus being malformed, the financial inability to bear the burdens, and the negative impact on the care of the existing child?

If the pregnancy has not exceeded forty days, it is permissible to abort it for a legitimate interest or to prevent a definite or expected harm. It is stipulated that the abortion should not be out of fear of hardship or merely to suffice with the current number of children. If it has exceeded forty days but not exceeded one hundred and twenty days (before the ensoulment), then aborting it for a valid excuse is not forbidden.
