The husband is advised to consult the Sharia court or scholars to clarify how the divorce was issued and what he intended when he wrote it. The written divorce, being a kinayah (allusion), depends on the husband's intention. If he intended divorce, it occurs; otherwise, it does not. Furthermore, the statement "You are divorced, divorced, divorced" effectuates a single divorce unless the husband intended three. As for the statement "You are divorced by three," there is a difference of opinion: some scholars hold that three divorces occur, which is the view of the majority, while others believe that a single divorce occurs. The relationship between spouses must be based on ma'ruf (goodness and kindness), and divorce is not a solution to problems.
