The answer

It is permissible for a Muslim to slaughter his sacrifice himself or to appoint another Muslim to slaughter it. There is no objection to seeking the help of a non-Muslim in skinning and cutting it. As for appointing a person of the People of the Book to slaughter the sacrifice, there is a difference of opinion among scholars. The majority consider it valid with some dislike, while the Malikis and some Hanbalis consider it invalid, explaining that the sacrifice is an act of worship and a person of the People of the Book is not qualified for this worship.
