How do I ascertain the intention behind the divorce I issued—whether I was angry or deliberate—and what are the consequences for me?

Cursing the religion is an act of disbelief (kufr) and apostasy from Islam by scholarly consensus (ijma'). Anger is not an excuse in all cases, for many who curse the religion do not curse their own fathers, no matter how intense their anger, which indicates the emptiness of their hearts from venerating Allah and His religion. Therefore, abandon these whispers; you have committed a grave evil. You must strive in repentance, righteous deeds, and veneration of Allah and His religion, for Allah accepts the repentance of those who repent.
