Does my repentance from sins and grave misdeeds prevent me from worry and sorrow and necessitate my hastening to marry, or is it better to delay marriage until the gap between me and my bad past widens and my psychological state improves? And are the obsessive whispers regarding purity and prayer that afflicted me after repentance considered a punishment for it?

A servant should not remember their past and their sins except through repentance, seeking forgiveness, and striving in obedience. Excessive sorrow weakens the heart and saps resolve, and it is one of Satan's stratagems. One should also hasten to marry if capable, for it fortifies a Muslim against trials and renders the remembrance of the past and its effect on the soul unnecessary.
