Is it obligatory to fast two months as expiation for someone who hit a man with his car, leading to his later death, knowing that he only saw him at the moment of impact, and the court ruled that he pay the blood money, which he did?

Whoever kills a believer by mistake must pay blood money (Diyyah) to the victim's family, and the blood money is to be paid by the killer's 'aqilah (male relatives on the father's side). Traffic accidents are considered accidental killing. In addition to the blood money, the killer must free a believing slave; if he cannot find one, then he must fast for two consecutive months, as Allah Almighty says: "It is not for a believer to kill a believer except by mistake. And whoever kills a believer by mistake – then the freeing of a believing slave and a compensation payment presented to his family [is required] unless they give [up their right as] charity. But if he was from a people hostile to you and he was a believer, then the freeing of a believing slave [is required]. And if he was from a people with whom you have a treaty, then a compensation payment presented to his family and the freeing of a believing slave. And whoever does not find [one or afford it] – then a fast for two consecutive months as repentance to Allah. And ever is Allah Knowing and Wise."
