Am I obligated to obey my mother by severing my strong relationship with my aunt (not a severance of kinship ties), and by limiting communication with her to a small extent, especially after she threatened me with unforgiveness in this world and the hereafter if I continue my relationship with her as it was, because my aunt did not invite my mother to a family gathering?

You are not obligated to obey your mother regarding reducing visits to your paternal aunt, because there is no significant benefit for the mother in this matter, nor is she harmed by your aunt's visit. Visiting her benefits you (the questioner), and you can visit your paternal aunt without your mother's knowledge to avoid her anger.
