What is the ruling on selling or manufacturing cages designated for raising pets such as hamsters, birds, and rabbits, or on selling and manufacturing dog cages, whether for use inside or outside homes?

There is no harm in making or selling cages for pets and birds, because keeping them captive is permissible. As for dog cages, it is permissible to make and sell them to those who keep dogs for a legally recognized benefit, such as hunting or guarding. It is not permissible to make or sell them to those who keep dogs for no recognized benefit, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever acquires a dog, except a dog for herding livestock, or for hunting, or for farming, a Qirat (a measure of reward) will be deducted from his reward every day."
