What is the ruling on separating dog puppies from their mother, selling them, and benefiting from their price?
Selling dogs is absolutely forbidden according to the majority of scholars, due to the hadith: "He forbade the price of a dog," and "The price of a dog is evil." Similarly, owning and raising dogs is forbidden except for a need, such as hunting or guarding, otherwise, two qirats will be deducted from its owner's reward every day. As for separating young animals from their mothers, it is not forbidden, and the hadith of the Hummarah is understood as a recommendation.
