Is it permissible for me, as a Muslim living in America, to have my non-Muslim aunt live with me, and what is the Islamic ruling on this matter, and what is the opinion of scholars regarding it, especially in Western countries where Muslims are a minority?

It is permissible to allow a disbelieving aunt to reside with you with the intention of inviting her to Islam through kind treatment, good manners, and patience. This is supported by the command to maintain ties of kinship with a disbeliever and the story of Thumamah ibn Uthal. As for a Muslim residing in non-Islamic countries, essential conditions must be met: the resident must be secure in his religion, and able to openly practice the rituals of his faith with freedom. If these conditions are not met, emigration becomes obligatory if possible.
