Is it permissible to search a maid's belongings without her knowledge?
It is impermissible to accuse a Muslim maid who is committed to her religion and performs her duties, or to harbor ill suspicions about her, or to spy on her, merely because of a dream. This is because the honor of Muslims is sacred and cannot be violated by dreams. Allah has warned against harboring ill suspicions and spying, saying: "O you who have believed, avoid much [negative] assumption. Indeed, some assumption is sin. And do not spy" (Quran 49:12). However, if there are other pieces of evidence and indications, it is better to dismiss her. Doubts and delusions can be dispelled by remembering Allah, performing the obligatory prayers, avoiding prohibitions, and regularly reciting the morning and evening adhkar, for indeed, by the remembrance of Allah do hearts find tranquility.
