Is it true that Ibn Khaldun stated that Mu'awiyah, may Allah be pleased with him, was the one who killed Lady 'Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, and what is the response to this claim?

They falsely claimed that Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) killed 'Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) after she objected to his pledge of allegiance for his son Yazid. The relationship between Mu'awiyah and 'Aishah (may Allah be pleased with them both) was good, characterized by affection and respect. Mu'awiyah honored her and gave her money. 3. Ibn Khaldun held the Companions in high esteem and did not disparage them. He believed that any disagreements between them were a result of (independent reasoning) and did not permit speaking ill of them with falsehood. Ibn Khaldun revered Mu'awiyah and considered him among the caliphs, viewing his pledge of allegiance to Yazid as being for the benefit of uniting the people.
Therefore, the statement that Mu'awiyah killed 'Aishah, or that Ibn Khaldun mentioned this, is a lie and a fabrication.
