What is the ruling on the prayer of one who prevents the release of gases before the Adhan and during the prayer?
It is disliked to withhold wind or urine before entering into prayer, as it removes humility (khushu') and tranquility. If this occurs during prayer, one should not break it unless suppressing it leads to missing a pillar or an obligation, in which case one should exit, relieve oneself, perform ablution, and then repeat the prayer. If the worshiper intentionally invalidates their ablution (حدث), their prayer is unanimously nullified. However, if the invalidation precedes them involuntarily, there are two opinions regarding the nullification of their prayer. The more recent and correct opinion is that it is nullified, and this is the madhhab of the Shafi'is and others. Some scholars said: he continues his prayer.
