Is it obligatory to condemn one who takes "the scholars differed" as a jest when disagreeing on a particular matter?

If you strongly suspect that your companion intends to mock Islamic knowledge and its people, you must object to him and explain the gravity of such an act, as well as the importance of appreciating knowledge and those who bear it, for scholars are the inheritors of the Prophets. Reverence for scholars is part of glorifying Allah Almighty.
