What is the ruling on posting a picture of the crescent and the cross as a profile picture on Facebook?

The cross is an image that is not permissible to create for a fee or otherwise. If it is found, it must be removed and its image changed, as it was reported that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, ordered Adi ibn Hatim to cast away the cross that was on his neck. Therefore, it is not permissible to use it as a symbol on websites or elsewhere.
