Is it permissible for a suitor to communicate with his fiancée via phone and social media before the marriage contract is concluded, given that the marriage contract will only be concluded two weeks before the wedding, and that the communication does not exceed mutual assistance in matters of life and study, and there is no spousal talk involved? And is a fiancée considered suitable for marriage if she is temperamental, mistreats her family, and uses obscene language towards them in moments of anger, with this behavior repeating despite advice?

We advise the questioner to supplicate frequently for the facilitation of marriage. We also remind him that the aforementioned girl is a stranger to him until the lawful marriage contract is concluded. Therefore, it is obligatory to adhere to the Sharia guidelines in dealing with her and not to expand upon unlawful communication.

As for the girl, her nervousness and disrespect towards her parents while she is aware constitute disobedience (aqūq), which indicates a flaw in her religiosity and character. She might not be good in dealing with him. Therefore, we do not advise marrying her unless she abandons this behavior.

We emphasize the importance of thorough investigation when choosing a wife and asking those who know her well, as merely speaking with her is not sufficient to know her true state.
