Is it permissible not to help competitors understand a scientific topic, given that they have not exerted effort in understanding it, and is withholding help considered injustice if the goal is to obtain a better grade in academic competition?

Competition in permissible matters is allowed, such as competing in understanding or summarizing academic material, or competing over who will be first, provided it is free from envy, arrogance, the desire for superiority, boasting, and transgression. Al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar said: "Competition: if it is in obedience, it is praiseworthy; if it is in disobedience, it is blameworthy; and if it is in permissible matters, it is permissible." The Prophet, peace be upon him, forbade competition in worldly matters that leads to seeking prominence, arrogance, and transgression. As long as competition is permissible, there is no obligation to assist a competitor in the area of competition.
