If wealth reaches the niṣāb and a Ḥawl passes on it, is zakat due on the original wealth after deducting the zakat of the previous year, or on the new wealth upon which the Ḥawl has passed?
You are obligated to pay Zakat on the total amount of money (3925) this year if the conditions for Zakat are met, because the profit is added to the principal capital and Zakat is paid on both. Khalil said: "And the profit is added to its principal." Ibn al-Qasim said: "Whoever had ten dinars, then traded with them, and they became twenty dinars with their profit one day before the year was complete, he pays Zakat on them upon the completion of the year, because the profit of the money is from it, and its year is the year of its principal."
