My advice to the two brothers is to accept their brother's gift and his connection; for it is the right of a Muslim upon his brother to accept his gift and bring joy to him with it. Accepting it also aids in good deeds, for a gift removes rancor and brings affection, as per the hadith: "Exchange gifts, and you will love one another." It is disliked to refuse a gift, no matter how small, unless there is an impediment, such as the giver intending to take it back through a compensatory contract, or not being satisfied with the usual reward, or if the gift is given after being requested and desired by the self. If the gift is free from these impediments, there is no reason to refuse it, as doing so would harm the giver and break his heart.
