What is the ruling on one who vows to offer a sheep's head: is it permissible to give it away alive as charity, and is it permissible to give it as charity to one's son?

Whoever makes a vow that is considered an act of obedience is obligated to fulfill it, according to the hadith: "Whoever vows to obey Allah, let him obey Him." If he vowed to give a sheep alive as charity, he is bound by that. If he vowed to slaughter it, he is bound to slaughter it. He may give it to his needy child, provided he did not specify a particular recipient at the time of the vow. If he did not specify a recipient, then its disbursement is that of charity.
