What should I do if someone says to me, "Convey my salaams," but does not specify to whom I should convey them?

If peace (salam) is sent with a person to another, it is obligatory for them to convey it if they undertake to do so, because it is part of fulfilling a trust (amanah). However, if they do not undertake to do so, it is not obligatory upon them. Scholars have elaborated on this: if the messenger commits to conveying the salam, it becomes obligatory upon them; but if they do not commit, it is not obligatory. If the salam is conveyed to an unspecified person or to a group for whom conveying it would be difficult, then it is not obligatory to convey it unless one undertakes the trust.
