This car is an unsalable commodity. Scholars have differed regarding the on unsalable commodities. Some contemporary scholars have favored the view that there is no zakat due on stagnant goods. According to this favored view, no zakat is due on the car for the questioner. However, according to the view that zakat is obligatory, then its zakat is due. Its zakat is to be calculated by considering its value for each year in which its zakat was not paid, and then one-quarter of one-tenth (2.5%) of its value is to be paid.
