How can one deal with a husband whose character has changed for the worse, becoming abusive, stingy, and insulting to her family after his financial situation improved, and it is feared that this might be due to the evil eye, especially with his refusal to go to a Sheikh for treatment?

The man must fear Allah and repent from mocking Muslims and speaking ill of them. He should know that vulgarity and stinginess are not characteristics of believers. He must spend on his family sufficiently and provide for his children's educational needs.

He must also treat his wife and her family kindly, for insulting a Muslim is فسوق (disobedience/transgression), and a believer is not a slanderer, nor a curser, nor obscene, nor vulgar.

The wife should advise him and remind him of good manners, and explain the necessity of changing his condition. If he thinks he is afflicted by the evil eye, he should go to someone who can perform ruqyah (definition) on him, or he can recite ruqyah verses upon himself. The wife can also give him water over which ruqyah has been recited, while being cautious of charlatans.
