Would it have been more appropriate not to prohibit the woman who distributed rosaries while people were praying with them during the Friday sermon, for fear of falling into the sin mentioned in the hadith: "If you say to your companion while the Imam is delivering the sermon, 'Be quiet,' then you have engaged in idle talk"?

One must listen to the sermon and refrain from speaking, even if it is to enjoin good or forbid evil, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "If you say to your companion, 'Listen,' while the Imam is delivering the sermon on Friday, then you have spoken idly." Likewise, there is the hadith (definition): "And whoever says 'hush' has spoken, and whoever speaks has no Friday prayer," and: "Whoever speaks on Friday while the Imam is delivering the sermon is like a donkey carrying books, and he who says to him: 'Listen,' has no Friday prayer." This includes those outside the mosque as long as they can hear the sermon. Enjoining good should be done by gesturing, not by speaking.
