Is not the statement of Sheikh Muhammad ibn Ibrahim Al ash-Sheikh, in his description of ruling by other than what Allah has revealed as major disbelief, sound and consistent with the principles of Ahlus-Sunnah, and does he have any other statement that contradicts what has been mentioned?

Sheikh Muhammad ibn Ibrahim Al ash-Sheikh was strict in denouncing innovations (bid'ah) and man-made laws. It is mentioned that he was severe with the people of innovation and considered their actions that contradict the Sharia as apostasy and a departure from Islam, especially regarding the suspension of Allah's prescribed punishments (hudud) and deeming them barbaric, or permitting fornication by mutual consent. The Sheikh did not retract this stance, and whoever reported that he recanted has erred. The reference point in these matters is the sacred texts and the scholarly interpretations thereof.
