Is it permissible to drink non-alcoholic beer?

The fundamental principle concerning foods and drinks is that they are permissible unless proven otherwise by the Law. If a beverage contains an intoxicant, it becomes unlawful. Therefore, if a large quantity of beer intoxicates, then even a small quantity of it is forbidden. This is based on the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "Every intoxicant is unlawful," and his saying: "Every intoxicant is unlawful; what intoxicates in a faraq of it, a handful of it is unlawful."
