What should one do regarding two copies of the Qur’an that have dark stains which may have transferred to their pages due to reading with wet hands, knowing that these stains are affixed with an adhesive substance that may contain alcohol, and is one who leaves the Qur’an in such a state considered an infidel?

Removing impurities from the Mus'haf (copy of the Qur'an) is an act of glorifying the rituals of Allah. However, it is not obligatory if it causes hardship, and there is no evidence to suggest that abandoning it leads to apostasy. It is impermissible to read from the Mus'haf with wet hands if the wetness affects its pages, and the prohibition intensifies if there is a strong presumption that impurities might be transferred. It is not presumed that stains contain alcohol because it is a solvent; even if they did, the majority of scholars consider it impure, and its removal becomes obligatory. One should beware of waswasah (obsessive whispering/doubt).
