Is specifying a certain number for a supplication (dua) or remembrance (dhikr) – such as repeating particular supplications three times, or "There is no god but You; glory be to You! Indeed, I was among the wrongdoers," and sending blessings upon the Prophet, and seeking forgiveness eleven or three times – considered an innovation (bid'ah), or is this action sound and free from any fault?

Supplication at night is prescribed, and it has been reported that there is a time of response every night. The best time for supplication at night is the last third, when Allah descends to the lowest heaven and says: "Who is invoking Me that I may respond to him?" Seeking to supplicate at bedtime is permissible, as long as one does not believe in the specificity of this time or specify certain numbers of supplications without a legal basis, because that may fall under additive innovations, such as dedicating acts of worship to times not specified by the Sharia.
