A Muslim woman is not permitted to follow customs that contradict Islamic law. Rather, she must obey Allah’s commands, adhere to the prescribed Shar’i , and emulate the honorable female companions (Sahabiyat) who promptly adopted it upon the revelation of the verses pertaining to hijab, overcoming the customs of the pre-Islamic era (Jahiliyyah) and societal pressures. A Muslim woman should be a good role model for others.
