Is it permissible to wear rings that contain an amulet (hirz) or talismans, or that have the name of Allah engraved on them, during prayer?

It is permissible for a man to wear a silver ring with his name or the name of Allah engraved upon it. However, it is forbidden to wear a ring upon which an amulet (hirz) or talismans are engraved, whether they are from the Qur'an or otherwise. This is because they are considered prohibited amulets (tama'im) that can lead to shirk (polytheism), and because they may be exposed to disrespect, such as by entering the restroom and the like.
