Abortion is forbidden in Islamic law and is not permissible unless the pregnancy poses a definite danger to the mother's life, confirmed by reliable medical reports, or if the fetus dies inside its mother's womb. The permissibility of abortion for the questioner depends on the extent of the real danger posed by the continuation of the pregnancy and a Cesarean delivery. If abortion is permissible, and it occurs after the formation of the fetus but before the ensoulment, then blood money (diyah) is obligatory, and it is recommended to offer expiation by fasting for two consecutive months or freeing a slave.
