Children whose father dies before they reach puberty are considered orphans. Their maintenance is incumbent upon the mother if they do not possess wealth. If she does not possess wealth, then it is incumbent upon whoever inherits from them, proportionate to their inheritance. Maintenance is obligatory for the paternal uncle if there is no other heir besides him. As for the maternal uncle, maintenance is not obligatory upon him because he is not an heir.
