Is one expiation sufficient for multiple oaths and vows that differ in their formulation and subject matter?

According to the Hanbalis, expiations overlap if they are of the same type, regardless of whether the forms of oaths or the subject of the oath differ, as long as their obligation is the same, namely the expiation for an oath. Thus, a single expiation suffices. As for the majority of scholars, they hold that an expiation is required for each oath. Diligence is required in estimating the number of oaths to discharge the expiations, unless the oaths are a result of obsessive thoughts, in which case nothing is required for them.
