It has been previously explained that the reason for the greatness of the husband's right and his guardianship over his wife is to organize family affairs, not to humiliate the woman. This matter is a religious obligation and a responsibility for the man before Allah, as he is a shepherd and responsible for his flock. The wife must obey her husband in what is good and permissible, and this is legally restricted to what does not harm her and pertains to marriage and its related matters. The most preponderant opinion is that a wife's service to her husband is obligatory according to common custom, and this obligation is restricted so as not to cause her harm.
