Has the prayer for healing for a deceased mother, offered before dawn, gone in vain? And did Allah not answer it due to sins? And is death part of the divine decree that can be averted by prayer? And is it permissible to pray that this supplication be a raising of her status and counted in the balance of her good deeds?

A Muslim's death on Friday or its eve is a sign of a good ending, based on the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "There is no Muslim who dies on Friday or on the eve of Friday except that Allah protects him from the trial of the grave."

The response to supplication occurs in one of three ways: either the supplication is answered immediately, or it is stored for the Hereafter, or evil is averted from the supplicant. Supplication does not avert death, as it is a decreed fate, while supplication does reach the deceased, by scholarly consensus.
