Is it permissible to insult and slander a media personality who insulted the Companions?
Abusing the Companions is a grave crime, and one must warn against those who engage in it and advise them to repent. However, ridiculing and mocking those who abuse the Companions is not part of a Muslim's ethics. The inner matters and ultimate outcomes are known only to Allah. The duty is to despise the sin, not to mock the person, because Allah does not look at people's appearances or wealth, but rather at their hearts and deeds. Therefore, one cannot definitively declare anyone flawed based on their apparent actions, for there might be something in their heart that earns them forgiveness, or there might be something blameworthy in the heart of someone who appears righteous. Hence, the bad state is condemned, not the offending individual. And one must advise those who mock the perpetrator of this sin.
